Rod Scherpe
Vice-President rscherpe@galesburg205.org Board Certification |
||||
Rod Scherpe is originally from Belleville, Illinois. He attended public schools and graduated from SIU-C with a Business Degree. Rod worked as an Illinois State Trooper and recently retired. Rod's wife has taught at Cooke and Gale and currently teaches at Steele Elementary School. Nearly, twenty years ago, when his oldest daughter was about to start Kindergarten, he had the opportunity to advance his career and become a Crime Scene Investigator. This required a move to Galesburg, Illinois. With no family from this immediate area, they were a bit apprehensive in the relocation. However, prior to making a decision, Rod and his wife toured all of the schools in Galesburg. After observing the teachers and students in many classrooms their apprehensions were relieved and agreed that this community would be a perfect place to raise a family.
Rod has been active in the School District and community. Beginning with the Silas Willard PTO followed by serving as PTO Treasurer for the former Cooke School. Rod has also served as treasurer for the Galesburg Athletic Booster Club. Rod has three children who have been educated in Community Unit District 205 and graduated from Galesburg High School. He is proud to call Galesburg home. Since retiring, he feels compelled to give back to the community that gave so much to his family. Rod hopes that his passion for family, the education of our children, along with his background and experiences establish a foundation for data driven problem solving. His goal is to bring a new perspective to the school board, which would benefit all of our children, the teachers and the community. Rod believes a quality education is fundamental for the success of everyone. |
